Organisations, working in any field of community benefit, located throughout the UK
or ROI can apply for a laptop and a year's free broadband connection. There are

GIFT AID … John Hollins (Nottingham) added the following …
Nottingham, Southwell and West Bridgford U3As have been successful in applying for Gift Aid from the Inland Revenue.
For more information, have a look at the Government’s website. As the website says, for every £1 donated to your U3A, you could get an extra 25p, plus 3 pence more for “transitional relief” which applies to April 2011.
JH has put some info about Gift Aid and a form for U3A members to complete on the Nottm U3A website. Click here and here.
Denis Kitt (West Bridgford U3A) commented: “A U3A with an income of less than £5000 will not be accepted for registration by the Charities Commission. However, the Inland Revenue will accept them as a charity for the purposes of Gift Aid, if the U3A writes to them and sends a copy of their constitution.
