Network Development Team
One of the main functions of networks is to initiate and co-ordinate the development of new U3As within the county. The primary aim of the Network development Team is to fulfil this function. a secondary function is to provide support for U3As experiencing difficulties and the team will explore ways in which this support can best be provided.
Webmasters' Meetings
Following a meeting of webmasters at the Workshop for Group Leaders held at Brackenhurst College in June 2011, several of us thought that it would be a good idea to have get-togethers from time to time to swap ideas and for mutual support in sorting out any problems. Below are the notes on the meetings held to date:

Committee Member Mentoring Group
We all know that committee members have a very important part in running a U3A successfully and yet there are few sources of support for them if they would like to discuss matters with someone having experience of the same U3A role.
With this in mind 12 U3A committee members, from all over the county, attended a workshop, late last year, to establish a number of mentors for new and existing post holders in U3As in Nottinghamshire. All of them were themselves experienced committee members and they are willing to listen and give advice and support where and when it is sought. They are not there to tell people what to do. Their code of practice includes ensuring confidentiality of any matters raised with them.
With a number of new U3As expected to be established in the next few years and with the natural turnover of committee members it is hoped the present mentors, and others too, will be available to fulfil a very useful role for Nottinghamshire U3As in the immediate future.
If you or a friend would like to talk to a mentor please contact Liz Wilson.
We intend to hold more workshops in future so if you are an experienced committee member and are interested in becoming a mentor please contact Alan Morris.
